Local governments play a critical role in TDM planning and implementation. Land use, urban design, and parking policies are all under the jurisdiction of local governments and essential in influencing travel choice and demand. For example, efficient land use and urban design can reduce the need for driving, and appropriate parking supply and pricing can encourage the use of modes such as biking, walking and transit. Transportation System Management and Operations (TSMO) is designed to optimize the performance of existing and future programmed transportation infrastructure, and it is often beneficial to use both TDM and TSMO strategies simultaneously. Kick off TDM Week by attending this insightful webinar and learn how Florida builds TDM into the planning process from the start!
