  Emergency Ride Home Toolkit

Sponsored by: U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Transportation

Welcome to the Emergency Ride Home Toolkit

Welcome to Best Workplaces for Commuters’ Emergency Ride Home Toolkit. Emergency ride home (ERH) programs are a form of low-cost commuter insurance. An ERH provides commuters with easy access to transportation alternatives in the event of a personal emergency. When commuters have access to an ERH, confidence in commuting options rises, and so does participation in ridesharing, taking transit, biking, walking, etc.

This toolkit contains information for both those new to Emergency Ride Home (also commonly called Guaranteed Ride Home [GRH]) programs and those who already run them. If you are new to ERH programs, this toolkit will help you learn about the benefits of ERH programs, identify funding sources, determine appropriate program guidelines, and more! Throughout the toolkit are sample materials and links to existing resources.

Review the links below for more information, general tips and sample materials to help you develop an ERH program.
