EPA owns the term Best Workplaces for Commuters^SM. The small "SM" after "Commuters" stands for "Service Mark", which means that the mark applies to a service rather than a product which would use the more common "TM" instead.

Use of the term by an employer is restricted to those employers that meet the requirements for being a Best Workplaces for Commuters^SM. Other entities may use the term Best Workplaces for Commuters^SM for referring to the program and to the qualifying employers.
