Best Workplaces for CommutersSM Servicemark

Best Workplaces for Commuters logo

EPA owns the term Best Workplaces for CommutersSM. The small "SM" after "Commuters" stands for "Service Mark", which means that the mark applies to a service rather than a product which would use the more common "TM" instead.

Use of the term by an employer is restricted to those employers that meet the requirements for being a Best Workplaces for CommutersSM. Other entities may use the term Best Workplaces for CommutersSM for referring to the program and to the qualifying employers.

One of the benefits of joining the Best Workplaces for CommutersSM program is that partners are entitled to call themselves Best Workplaces for CommutersSM. The term Best Workplaces for CommutersSM is reserved specifically for those employers that meet the National Standard of Excellence for the provision of commuter benefits to their employees. This term distinguishes an employer that has been accepted as a Best Workplaces for CommutersSM partner and ranks among the top one percent of all employers in the provision of commuter benefits. Employers who meet this standard are encouraged to use the term Best Workplaces for CommutersSM in want ads, recruitment efforts, articles, press releases, and other communications.

Please note the proper use of the term Best Workplaces for CommutersSM: each word is capitalized, except the "for"; "Workplaces" is plural and one word; and the servicemark should occur in superscript after the word "Commuters".
