Best Workplaces for Commuters^SM "Race to Excellence"...

Best Workplaces for Commuters recognizes the efforts and achievements of outstanding BWC Network Members and Employee Transportation Coordinators through the Race to Excellence. The second annual Race acknowledges the tremendous effort put forth by individuals and organizations alike who work in the transportation management field or support transportation choices across the country.

Winners were formally recognized at the Association for Commuter Transportation International Conference in Boston, Massachusetts, on August 29, 2006. Ira Leighton, Deputy Regional Administrator, EPA New England, was on hand to present the awards.

The Results Are In!

The response to 2006 Race to Excellence challenge was outstanding! There was a 20 percent increase in the number of applicants, with a marked improvement in program quality and activities our partners are putting in place.

There were a total of 56 winners in the 2006 Race to Excellence challenge.
The breakdown is as follows:

• 11 Gold Employee Transportation Coordinator awards
• 8 Gold BWC Network member awards
• 9 Silver Employee Transportation Coordinator awards
• 10 Silver BWC Network member awards
• 12 Bronze Employee Transportation Coordinator awards
• 6 Bronze BWC Network Member awards
• 3 "Best Of" awards
