CUTR assumes role as BWC program manager

October 1, 2007

Today, EPA is pleased to join with the Center for Urban Transportation Research (CUTR) at the University of South Florida (USF) to announce that as of October 1, CUTR, with support from its National Center for Transit Research, will assume responsibility for national management of the program.

CUTR is well-positioned to effectively carry on the BWC mission and message for a variety of reasons.

    1. CUTR’s transportation demand management (TDM) program consists of 6 full-time researchers with more than 60 years of combined TDM experience.
    2. CUTR operates the National Center for Transit Research’s (NCTR) National TDM and Telework Clearinghouse.
    3. CUTR hosts the TRANSP-TDM listserv (with more than 1,200 subscribers) and hosts 18 netconferences on TDM issues that reach up to 200 people at one time.
    4. CUTR manages the Commuter Choice Certificate Program, which is one of the most comprehensive TDM training programs in the United States.

EPA has collaborated closely with CUTR since the inception of Best Workplaces for Commuters in 2001.  Recognizing that the Center for Urban Transportation Research brings with it unique capabilities, the Agency applauds CUTR’s enthusiasm and commitment to work with communities and partners around the country to ensure that the momentum being generated by BWC will be strengthened in the future.
