On Tuesday, August 10, the Logan Airport Employee TMA was designated the 2004 New England's Best Workplaces for CommutersSM Champion of the Year for their outstanding work in getting almost all of their TMA members on the 2004 list of New England's Best Workplaces for Commuters.
Of their 24 employer members, 23 are on the 2004 list including Delta Air Lines, Hilton Boston Logan Airport, Aramark and JetBlue Airways. These employers provide employees incentives to take public transit such as transit subsidies and shuttles from transit stations. Some of these employers also pay employees to not park at the airport through a parking cash out program.
Mike Kenyon, EPA New England's Chief of the Air Programs Branch presented the award to Stephanie Hirshon, director of the Logan Airport Employee TMA. Stating that the benefits these employers offer strongly encourage many Logan Airport employees to leave their vehicles at home, Mr. Kenyon remarked that their incentive program is helping to reduce road congestion and air pollution at one of the country's most congested airports.
